The date and time for CF Benidorm’s next league fixture has now been confirmed.
CF Benidorm will travel to face UD Rayo Ibense ‘A’ on Sunday, 27 September, with kick-off set for 5:00pm local time (4:00pm UK).
It will see the league leaders take on the team currently at the bottom of the table, but despite the contrasting league positions, Rayo Ibense’s opening three matches suggest this could be a much tighter contest than the table might suggest.
Rayo Ibense have collected one point from their opening three games, beginning the season with a 1-0 defeat away to Novelda UCF before playing out a goalless draw at home against Olímpic de Xàtiva.
Their most recent outing saw them suffer another narrow 1-0 defeat away to Alberic, who currently sit third in the league. While Rayo Ibense are yet to record a victory, their defensive record stands out. They have conceded just two goals in three games, the opposite of what you might expect from a team sitting bottom of the table.
They have also failed to score so far, meaning their three matches have produced just two goals against them and none in their favour.
Their latest performance against Alberic is particularly noteworthy. With Alberic currently sitting third, Rayo Ibense kept the game extremely tight and were eventually beaten by just a single goal.
That defensive resilience means CF Benidorm will have to find a way through a side that has proven difficult to break down during the opening weeks of the campaign.
Benidorm Looking to Continue Perfect Start
CF Benidorm head into the fixture with nine points from nine following a perfect start to the season.
Their opening two games both finished 2-1, against Jávea and CFI Alicante, before last weekend’s dramatic last-minute winner against Gandia secured another three points.
The victory over Gandia also saw Benidorm record their first clean sheet of the season, adding another positive to what has been an impressive opening three games.Benidorm have now scored five goals and conceded just two across their opening three matches.
The challenge this weekend will be different, however, with Rayo Ibense having conceded only twice themselves.
Top vs Bottom
The league table may show a clear difference between the two sides, but Rayo Ibense’s results demonstrate why Benidorm cannot afford to take anything for granted.
For the hosts, it will be another opportunity to turn their solid defensive performances into their first victory of the campaign.
For Benidorm, it is a chance to make it four wins from four and maintain their position at the top of the table.
The league leaders will now look to continue their perfect start on the road.
