CF Benidorm Weekend Review: Almoradí Draw, Arona Update, B Team, Live Streaming and Women’s Youth Fixtures

It was another busy weekend across CF Benidorm, with plenty happening both on and off the pitch. The men’s first team were held to a goalless draw by CD Almoradí, while Arona’s injury and the positive update that followed became the main talking point. There was also action for the newly formed B team, exciting news regarding live streaming, and the fixture calendar for the women’s youth team was announced.

However, Saturday’s first-team fixture against CD Almoradí was overshadowed by a serious-looking injury to Arona during the second half.

A Goalless Draw Against Almoradí

CF Benidorm were held to a 0-0 draw at home by CD Almoradí, bringing an end to the team’s perfect start to the season. Read the match review here.

After four consecutive victories had seen Sergio Mora’s side take 12 points from their opening four games, Saturday’s result was their first dropped points of the campaign. The result itself was disappointing, but the main concern came during the second half when Arona suffered a heavy blow to the head.

The situation initially looked extremely serious, with an ambulance required on the pitch before Arona was taken to hospital for further assessment. Thankfully, the club later provided a positive update, confirming that Arona was okay following the blow. He remained under medical supervision and was being treated by medical professionals, with members of the squad also visiting and accompanying him.

Everyone at CF Benidorm UK wishes Arona a speedy and full recovery. Thankfully, the injury appears not to have been as serious as it initially looked, and we hope to see him back on the pitch when he is ready.

Arona Named MVP

Despite having to leave the game following the injury, Arona was named CF Benidorm’s Man of the Match for his performance. The club praised his work in midfield, highlighting his ability in the duels, his energy and the intensity he brought to the game.

The British Supporters Group also selected Arona as their MVP, noting that before the incident he had been controlling the game, losing possession just once and breaking down anything that came towards the back four.

Davi was also singled out for praise for his ability to win the ball high up the pitch, remain calm in possession and demonstrate an impressive passing range.

The most important thing, however, is Arona’s health.

Fantastic News For Supporters Watching From Afar

Saturday’s match also brought some fantastic news for CF Benidorm supporters who are unable to attend games in person.

The Almoradí fixture was streamed live on YouTube, allowing supporters in the UK, further afield and even locally to follow the team when they could not make it to the stadium. Following the impressive viewing figures from the broadcast, Duncan Oldham shared an update confirming that the club is currently finalising arrangements to ensure all CF Benidorm first-team matches are broadcast live.

There are also plans to broadcast selected matches involving other teams across the club, including the recently created B team.

Away broadcasts will, of course, depend on permission being granted by the home club, but this represents a huge step forward for CF Benidorm’s growing international fanbase. For supporters who cannot get to Benidorm every weekend, being able to watch the first team regularly is a major development.

CF Benidorm UK will continue to keep supporters updated as these arrangements are confirmed.

Novelda Unión Up Next

CF Benidorm now turn their attention towards their next Lliga Comunitat fixture against Novelda Unión. The match takes place on Saturday 10th October, with kick-off scheduled for 12pm local time.

There had been some uncertainty surrounding the fixture because of the long holiday weekend in Spain, with Friday 9 October being the Day of the Valencian Community and Monday 12 October being Spain’s National Day.

With La Nostra Copa fixtures also taking place across the weekend, there was some potential for changes to the schedule. However, CF Benidorm’s Lliga Comunitat fixture remains unaffected and will go ahead as planned.

Following the draw with Almoradí, Sergio Mora’s side will be looking to return to winning ways and continue their strong start to the promotion campaign.

CF Benidorm B Team Continue To Build

CF Benidorm’s newly formed B team were also in action at the weekend, suffering a 4-2 defeat against Ondarense.

Despite the result, the B team are continuing to gain valuable experience as they find their feet in a new league. The squad is developing its rhythm, with more dynamism and control being shown in training and matches as the players continue to work together.

As a new team competing in a new league, there is naturally plenty still to learn, work on and build. The important thing is that the players continue to develop and grow together as the season progresses.

Women’s Youth Team Fixtures Announced

The fixture calendar for CF Benidorm’s women’s youth team has also been announced, with the side preparing for another season in the Brave Youth League.

The schedule provides plenty of challenges throughout the campaign, with a mixture of home and away fixtures against teams from across the region.

Looking Ahead

While the 0-0 draw with Almoradí was not the result CF Benidorm would have wanted, the most important news from the weekend was the positive update regarding Arona.

The club now turns its attention towards Novelda Unión and the next opportunity to return to winning ways.

Away from the first team, the plans for increased live coverage are a major boost for supporters around the world, while the B team and women’s youth sides continue to add to the growing football structure at CF Benidorm.

As the season develops, CF Benidorm UK will continue bringing the latest news, results, fixtures and updates to supporters in Benidorm, across the UK and further afield.

Come on, Benidorm!
