Match preview: CF Benidorm travel to Benigànim

Benigànim C.F. v CF Benidorm
Saturday | Kick-off: 17:30 in Spain, 16:30 in the UK

CF Benidorm are back on the road this weekend as they head to Benigànim C.F., looking to return to winning ways after last weekend’s 1–1 draw.

Saturday’s hosts are also seeking a response following a 2–0 defeat to new league leaders CD Javea. With both sides keen to bounce back, Benidorm will be hoping to make their chances count and come away with all three points.

The opposition

Benigànim sit 13th, just one place above the relegation zone, having won two of their opening eight league matches.

Their defeat to Javea followed a 4–0 home loss to Alberic, leaving them looking to halt a run of back-to-back defeats. Their two victories this season came against Novelda Union in gameweek three and away to C.F.U.E. Tavernes de la Valldigna, where they earned a 1–0 win.

Benidorm must take their chances

Despite the hosts’ position in the table, Benidorm cannot afford to take this fixture lightly. The goalless draw against Almoradi was a reminder that facing a side struggling near the bottom does not guarantee three points.

Benidorm struggled to convert their chances on that occasion, and a sharper finish in front of goal could be crucial on Saturday. There is an opportunity to get back to winning ways, but Benigànim’s away victory at Tavernes shows they are capable of grinding out a result.

For Benidorm, the challenge is clear: turn opportunities into goals and avoid giving the hosts a route back to form.

Minute’s silence before kick-off

A minute’s silence will be observed before kick-off in memory of the victims of the tragic railway accident in the province of Toledo.

The Football Federation of the Valencian Community (FFCV) has informed clubs that the tribute will take place at all official matches in competitions it organises between 29 October and 1 November, inclusive. Both teams and the match officials will gather in the centre of the pitch for the silence at the start of each match.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has also called for a minute’s silence at matches in national competitions.
