Another busy week around CF Benidorm has seen the women’s first team continue their pre-season preparations, Daniel receive his suspension following last weekend’s red card, and attention now turn towards another busy Sunday for the club.
With the men’s first team sitting on four wins from four at the start of the season, there is plenty to look forward to across the club this weekend.
THE WOMEN’S WATCH: PRE-SEASON CONTINUES
Last weekend saw CF Benidorm’s women’s first team play their second pre-season fixture as preparations for the new season continued. The team travelled away to face At. Jonense, suffering a 3-1 defeat in their latest outing. While the result was not what the team would have wanted, pre-season is about building fitness, developing understanding and preparing the squad for the competitive campaign ahead.
We have also launched a brand-new series on CF Benidorm UK, The Women’s Watch, dedicated to following the women’s team throughout the season. You can read our full Women’s Watch article here.
We are looking forward to bringing you regular coverage of the women’s team alongside our coverage of the men’s first team and everything else happening around CF Benidorm.
DANIEL HANDED TWO-MATCH SUSPENSION
CF Benidorm midfielder Daniel Adom has been handed a two-match suspension following his red card in last weekend’s fixture. Daniel was sent off in the 77th minute of the game, meaning he will now serve a two-match suspension. The decision and the circumstances surrounding the incident have been covered in full in our recent article, which you can read here.
Daniel will now miss the next two fixtures as he serves his suspension.
ARCANA RECOGNISED FOR OUTSTANDING START
The club has announced that goalkeeper Fernando Arcana will be the focus of this weekend’s match programme. It is recognition that is thoroughly deserved after the goalkeeper’s outstanding performances during the opening weeks of the season. Arcana has played a vital role in helping CF Benidorm secure four wins from four, producing important saves at crucial moments and giving the team a platform to build from at the other end of the pitch. His importance has been particularly clear in matches where CF Benidorm have been reduced to 10 men. On several occasions this season, the team have had to defend their lead and hang on for victory after going down to 10 players, with Arcana’s performances proving vital in helping the side see those games through.
There has also been recognition from the British supporters. Following the victory over CF Gandia, the CF Benidorm UK British supporters group voted for Fernando Arcana as their MVP of the match. It is another indication of how highly his performances have been regarded by supporters following the team this season.
