CF Benidorm vs CD Olímpic Xàtiva Postponed Following FFCV Red Alert Suspension

CF Benidorm’s home fixture against CD Olímpic Xàtiva, scheduled for Sunday 18 October, has been officially postponed after the Valencian Football Federation (FFCV) suspended football matches across Alicante and Valencia due to a red weather alert issued by AEMET.

The FFCV announced the suspension of official matches scheduled from Sunday, 18 October, in response to the severe weather warning, with additional restrictions applying to fixtures in Castellón involving travel from another province within the Valencian Community.

The decision affects CF Benidorm’s highly anticipated meeting with CD Olímpic Xàtiva, which was due to take place at the Estadio Municipal Guillermo Amor.

The club has confirmed that the fixture will be rearranged, with a new date to be communicated once confirmed.

FFCV Confirms Suspension Across Three Provinces

In its official announcement, the FFCV outlined the areas affected by the red weather alert and the resulting suspension of football matches.

The measures are as follows:

  • Valencia province: All matches suspended.
  • Alicante province: All matches suspended.
  • Castellón province: Matches involving travel from another province of the Valencian Community suspended. Other matches within Castellón remain scheduled to go ahead.

The restrictions also prohibit friendly matches from being played in the affected areas.

The federation has made the decision in response to the red alert issued by Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

The FFCV has also provided an email address, libros@ffcv.es, for reporting incidents relating to the suspension.

CF Benidorm Confirm Postponement

Following the federation’s announcement, CF Benidorm confirmed that Sunday’s home fixture against CD Olímpic Xàtiva would not take place as planned.

The club’s statement read:

“Tomorrow’s home fixture against CD Olímpic, scheduled for Sunday 18 October, has been officially postponed.”

The club also acknowledged the FFCV’s suspension of official football matches across Alicante and Valencia, citing the red weather alert issued by AEMET.

CF Benidorm emphasised that the safety of players, staff, supporters and everyone involved must come first.

Supporters had been looking forward to the meeting between the two sides, but the suspension means the fixture will have to be rearranged.

When Will the Match Be Played?

Supporters Urged to Stay Safe

The suspension extends beyond CF Benidorm’s fixture, affecting official football matches throughout Alicante and Valencia, alongside specific fixtures in Castellón.

With safety the priority, supporters are encouraged to follow official guidance and take appropriate precautions during the adverse weather conditions.
